Top Legends exhibition night for the twentieth-year anniversary of the Butterfly Cooke and Deaton Summer school
The Cooke and Deaton Summer School is renowned as the biggest and best table tennis summer school in the UK and this year marks a very proud moment for this well-established initiative, which will be commemorating its twentieth-year anniversary. In mark of this tremendous milestone, the course will celebrate the journey so far in a number of ways, one of which is hosting and opening to the public an extra special and prestigious exhibition evening with appearances from two of the world’s all-time legends who will display their skills with an evening of top-class competitive match play.
European top twelve champion Kalin Kreanga, and world singles champion Werner Schlager will compete against England’s very own legend himself Alan Cooke, as well as other players such as England’s Sam Walker, Kelly Sibley and Matt Ware. The special evenings of competition will be sure to showcase the sport at its finest and is shaping up fantastically. In addition to this, the course will stage a special ‘Question and Answer’ opportunity, facilitating these players to share their lifetime table tennis expertise and knowledge with the participants on the course, hence maximising their visit.
Course Director Alan Cooke comments,
We are absolutely delighted to welcome these international stars to celebrate our twentieth-year summer school anniversary in the form of a special legends exhibition evening which we have decided to open to the public. It is with hard work and ambition that the course has been so successful over the years and we endeavour to keep incorporating new initiatives with our offering, enabling keen enthusiasts to learn from the best players in our sport.
This is all in addition to the normal course, as seen on the website, which is delivered at Grantham College in Lincolnshire and ensures a top-class coaching landscape, incorporating all aspects needed to improve and enhance a player’s level. Irrespective of ability, participants will have the opportunity to improve technically, tactically, mentally and physically; all the ingredients needed to become a better table tennis player.
Alongside this, there is a diverse evening entertainment programme which serves to enhance the ‘family atmosphere’ which is experienced by all those who attend. The format of the course is designed on the table tennis experiences of two directors whose history in the sport speaks for itself.
Many players from all different sections of the world have benefitted from attending the course over the years, including Britain’s best players such as Liam Pitchford and Tom Jarvis who continue to use this knowledge to compete at the highest world level.
Due to the popularity of the course, we are currently fully booked on both weeks. However, we are keen for all interested people to come and enjoy our special twentieth Anniversary celebration on both Tuesday 28th July and Tuesday 4th August where we will have our stars Kreanga and Schlager showcasing their skills alongside our talented team of coaches. Kalin Kreanga will be appearing on Tuesday 28th July and Werner Schlager on Tuesday 4th August.
