BATTS Harlow host Cooke & Deaton's first ever Christmas Camp!

We felt the period between Christmas and New Year could use a little Cooke & Deaton cheer, so we decided to host our first Cooke & Deaton Table Tennis Christmas Camp at BATTS in Harlow, on 28/29th December 2023. The two-day extravaganza, consisting of an exhibition and a coaching masterclass, was a resounding success, leaving participants with lasting memories and invaluable skills.

The meticulous organization of the event, spearheaded by Neil Brierley and his dedicated team, ensured a seamless experience for all attendees. A special mention goes out to them for not only delivering a top-notch table tennis experience but also curating an impressive spread of food and drink that was enjoyed by everyone present.

The coaching team for this event was nothing short of extraordinary. Of course we were graced with the dynamic duo, Alan and Nicola, leading on the coaching sessions. Joining them were integral members of the Cooke & Deaton Table Tennis team, Sam Walker and Matt Ware, both accomplished players, Sam being a current member of the England squad. Participants had the unique opportunity to learn from these seasoned professionals, witnessing firsthand the skills that have earned them their esteemed positions.

The exhibition stage was a true highlight, participants getting the opportunity to test their skills against Alan, Sam and Matt with a final face off where Matt and Sam battled it out in a head-to-head.

One lucky participant walked away with an exclusive prize – a private coaching session with Sam Walker, courtesy of a raffle held during the event. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Sam for his generosity in donating such an incredible prize and his commitment to nurturing the next generation of table tennis enthusiasts.

The event also served as a reunion for many familiar faces from the Cooke & Deaton Summer School. A special shout-out to Catherine, who travelled all the way from Scotland to be part of this exciting event in Essex! It’s always heart-warming to see the strong connections formed during the Summer School continued to during the Table Tennis season and reunited at other Cooke & Deaton Table Tennis events,

The debut Christmas Camp exceeded expectations and its overwhelming success has already prompted the scheduling of our return in December 2024. Thank you to everyone who participated, supported, and contributed to making this event a triumph. We look forward to returning for another memorable table tennis celebration.
